Impact Racing safety helmetLast week we posted a news item about the SFI foundation decertifying all safety products sold by Impact Racing because Impact had been using counterfeit labels.

Now, however, the SFI and Impact have put out a joint press release saying that any products produced in 2009 and 2010 will not be decertified. That’s great news for racers that have just purchased safety gear from Impact. At least now they won’t have to eat the cost and purchase new gear. Also, if you have gear but cannot find a date of manufacture, you can contact Impact and–at least according to the press release–the company will verify the date of manufacture. Impact will then report to the SFI that information.

All that is great, especially if racers are still appropriately protected and can avoid shelling out money unnecessarily. Hopefully, the full story will be revealed soon enough.
