3n3d1047The World of Outlaws World Finals event is a three day festival of racing held at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway that draws in hundreds of racers in Dirt Late Models, Big Block Modified and 360 Sprints.

And besides a chance at winning the feature races on Friday and Saturday nights, since the World Finals are the last events on the schedule, this is also where the World of Outlaws crowns its champions for its top three divisions. This year, Jimmy Owens, Dale Blaney and Brett Hearn won the main Saturday night feature race in the Late Model, Sprint Car and Modified classes, respectively. The championships went to Donny Schatz for the Late Model Series, Darrell Lanigan for the Big Block Modifieds and Matt Sheppard for the Sprint Car class.

The World Finals are one of my favorite events of the year. Three straight days of dirt track racing with all the big guys on the track from five in the four in the afternoon until nearly midnight each night. Here's some of my favorite shots from the event. So to help get us through a long winter when most of the dirt tracks are dormant, here's some of my best shots from the World Finals.

Finally, here's a couple clips from a GoPro camera driver Lucas Wolfe allowed us to mount on the 5W Sprint Car. We'll have more videos from the event up soon, but here's a quick taste of the wheel-to-wheel action.
