I Want These Sweet Velocity Stacks on My Next Engine Build

Ok, so maybe Inglese’s EZ-EFI velocity stacks aren’t the freshest news, but I ran across them again while making plans for a future engine build and wanted to share just in case someone wasn’t aware of their coolness.

Besides looking great, these stacks from Inglese feature self tuning fuel injection systems. To make it all work, Inglese partnered with FAST to build these induction systems. Inglese calls them “EZ-EFI Eight Stack Systems” and they are said to be able to self-tune as you drive, so that means no more fiddling with a laptop in the passenger seat of your car. The EZ-EFI Eight Stack uses FAST’s electronics and Precision-Flow fuel injectors integrated into 50mm IDA-style throttle bodies for crisp throttle response. A hand-held control unit is also included–you use it to provide the initial setup by answering the questions the unit asks you.

I also like that Inglese has gone to the trouble to hide the fuel rails for a super sano look. Obviously, these would look great on practically any street rod, but Inglese now has a version available for big block Ford FE engines. Wouldn’t eight velocity stack’s look wicked just barely peeking over a cutout in the hood of a muscle car?

Sareni United’s New Camaro GT Race Car

chevrolet-camaro-gt3-2012-sareni-001 Chevrolet’s new Camaro is about as American as you can get when it comes to both the styling and the big V8 drivetrain. But this race car was made not in the USA, but in Germany where Mercedes and BMWs traditionally reign.

This race car is built by a tuner called Sareni United and besides that massive rear wing, other changes include a redesigned racing suspension, anti-lock brakes from Teves Racing, a roll cage and a large front splitter. Overall, the car has been put on a strict diet and is approximately 1000 pounds lighter than it’s OEM brothers at a svelte 2855 race weight.

Motivating this car will be a 7.9 liter V8 provided by race engine builder Katech back in the US. Projected power will be 650 hp and 590 lb/ft of torque. And if you want one, Sareni will sell it to you for around $250,000.

Sareni says that its Camaro GT has already been submitted to the FIA for approval and, hopefully, we will see it take to the track next year in the GT3 class against the usual Aston Martins, BMWs and Ferraris.

Wingless Sprint Cars Rock

Here’s an awesome video from Loudpedal Productions that they say is an homage to Southern California Sprint Car racing. All we know is it’s awesome.

Rallying Down Under

Interesting video of some Australians rallying a classic car on some pretty interesting dirt roads in the outback. The video is titled “XY GT Thommo Falcon.” Apparently Australian Dave Thompson is the “Thommo” and the car is, of course, a classic Falcon.

Hat tip to Jalopnik.

Hello, COPO

Chevrolet is a little late to the party since Ford has been running around for a few years winning races with their Cobra Jet Mustangs, but better late than never, I guess.

In a nod to it’s racing history, Chevrolet will produce dedicated NHRA Stock Eliminator COPO Camaros that should become available soon. “COPO” stands for Central Office Production Order, which was the term used in the late ’60s for special order cars with non-standard engine packages. Think Camaros with Corvette engines for racing.

This time around the COPO Camaro will be available with either a 7.9 liter naturally aspirated V8 or a supercharged 5.3 liter. This will be an off-road use only race car with none of the usual amenities and not option for making it road-legal. Besides the engine options, the COPO Camaros will be refitted with a solid axle to make it more race worthy on the race track.

Here’s a short video of the new car (still in concept stages) in action:

The 100 Worst Cars of All Time

What do you make of a list of the 100 worst cars of all time that includes a Bandit Trans Am, a Camaro, a Ferrari, and several Cadillacs? Well, we agree with the Caddy’s, but there are several other surprises on the list Edmunds came up with. Like the V8 Grand Prix (number 95), the 550 horsepower Saleen S7 (number 90), and a Pontiac Fiero (number 58)–but only because one spanked us in a LeMons race once. Several of these are probably just to get people arguing, and it looks like they’ve done a good job at that. But really, putting a first generation Corvette on a list of the worst cars of all time is simply a crime against humanity. After all, it is the first iconic American sportscar, even with its faults.

You can check out the complete list on the Edmunds website here. But be sure to come back and let us know what you think in the comments.

Seifert Racing’s Lucas Oil Pro2 Race Truck

Found this interesting video of Jeff Seifert’s Lucas Oil Offroad Series truck and thought I’d share. It’s a Pro2 truck, meaning two-wheel drive, and he’s got some interesting camera angles. Love watching the suspension on this bad boy go to work!

Performance Design Ups the Ante for LS Engines

While roaming the PRI show in Orlando last week we ran across this sexy beast in the Performance Designs booth. It is called the “Carbon XR” intake manifold and fits LS engines.

Performance Designs says the intake is still in the development process, and we can’t wait to see the finished results. The cross-ram style dual plenum design is constructed from carbon fiber and billet aluminum and is designed to work with two ’99-04 Mustang throttle bodies but by using adaptors you can bolt up practically any throttle body between 70 and 75 millimeters. Runner length is a 11.5 inches, so these babies should really help the low-end torque. To help keep costs down, PD designed the intake so that it will work with standard GM sensors (including MAP) and also accepts LS 7 and 9 fuel injectors.

We can’t wait to see these start showing up on hot rods.

Because Violence to Water Balloons is a Good Thing

Did you know that there is a Guiness World Record for most balloons popped by a car? Me either, but there is one now thanks to Alfa Romero’s efforts to publicize it’s new Quadrifoglio Verde hatchback. And thankfully, they even filmed all the mayhem so you can watch it right here.

The world record for water balloons popped by a car now officially stands at 2,738, so if you want to get into the record books all you have to do is break out the water hose and get busy. It looks like fun, but I know I don’t have enough patience to tie that many knots.
